Am I reaching if I call Olamide the current king of Nigerian Hip-Hop? There is no denying that he has been consistent with his music for the past two years, Bobo, Who U Epp, Lagos Boys and Don’t Stop are all still in heavy rotation and he does not seem to be stopping any time soon. The Baddo Sneh continues to churn out the hits this time with his new single Owo Blow. It does not look like Olamide will be stopping anytime soon after killing his London show last week
Now I must admit.. Clarence Peters KILLED the visuals for this single, one of the best videos I have seen come out of Nigeria this year. Check it out for yourself and let me know..
Chocolate City’s new addition Koker has one of the hottest tracks around at the moment (if the reaction at the two weddings I went to is anything to go by) with his single Kolewerk. The single was produced by Chocolate City in house producer Reinhard and the video was shot by none other than Clarence Peters.
if you haven’t heard this already.. Honestly where have you been?
In addition.. None other than King MC Olamide jumped on the remix with a FIRE verse that was perfectly fitting. If you thought the track didn’t get any better.. It does with the remix shot by 3 kings.
The Nominations are in!
2016 has by no doubt been a good year for Afrobeats. If I am honest I feel like 2015 was a little bit weak (my opinion) for the genre however 2016 has seen a little bit of a shake and I am quite pleased with the direction in which the music has begun to take again. The 2016 MOBO Nominations have officially been announced today and boy oh boy is the Best African Act packed full!
Now, I’ve got to hand it to the new additions to the MOBO committee, I think they pretty much got this category right (I speak for this one as this is my strong point lol) bar maybe one or two. All 10 of the nominees have had a pretty good year music wise and deserve the recognition be it the rise of Mr Eazi, the introduction to Eugy, the chart domination from Wizkid (it does not matter how small his feature was on One Dance, he still has a number one single), the force that is Olamide, the control of Tekno, the US tour from Tiwa or the takeover of Kwamz & Flava (See what I did there? hehehe).
Now that the nominations are out it’s up to you the fans to select your final five acts and your winner for this category.
You have until the 17th of October to get this list down from ten acts to five final nominees and then I am assuming you will have to pick your final winner out of the 5 after this date.
Get to it guys! I cannot lie to you.. This will be a tricky one for me!

Nigerian King of the Streets Olamide is back at it again with the visual to his latest single Abule Sowo. The video was shot in Nigeria and directed by Adasa Cookey.
Late last year Mavin’s first lady Tiwa Savage made her return to the scene and dropped a new album out of no where.. Now check out the video for the second single off that album entitled Standing Ovation featuring the YBNL boss Olamide. The track was produced by Don Jazzy and the video was directed by none other than Clarence Peters.
Tiwaa’s post baby snap back looks great!
Also if you haven’t already seen the video for the first single off this album entitled African Waist check it out below..
I actually stumbled on this track about a month go when someone posted a video of a young lady going in with her shoki at a wedding to this track and I have enjoyed it since! Even though I don’t have a clue what it means (I never understand full Yoruba tracks.. Hey I’m Ghanaian!) the production and the video just gives off a happy vibe. Now looking back I see this video actually came out in May and it completely flew over my head (I’ve been listening to a lot of hip hop and commercial charts music lately due to work) but still it is a vibe so you know I will share for those who may not have seen yet.. Check out the video for Olamide’s latest smash Bobo directed by Mr Moe Musa and shot at the Oriental Hotel V.I, Nigeria.
