New Music & Introducing: Ebony Reigns – Date Ur Fada

Ghana has had its fair share of female dominance from Mzbel to Eazzy to Tiffany to Kaakie to name a few. This time round we have the 90s bad gyal Ebony Reigns.

Ebony first stepped on the scene about two years ago with her single Dancefloor however the buzz for the Afro-Dancehall diva has really started to kick in this year after the release of her singles Poison and Sponsor.

The unapologetic 20 year old is gaining a huge buzz for her sultry lyrics and “Bad Gyal” persona and as if to keep tongues wagging she releases the provocative new single Date Ur Fada.

As we get to the end of the year which marks party season in Ghana I’m almost certain this will go down as one of the anthems for the ladies..

Take a listen and let me know what you think..

New Music: Juls Featuring Burna Boy – Gwarn

Speaking on Juls..

If there was an award for Breakthrough Act hands down it would go to my favourite artist of the year Juls. The producer has been consistent throughout the whole year from his Leap of Faith LP and the visuals and his production credits on tracks including Rock Your Body with Burna Boy. Celebrating his successful AFRIMMA award for Producer of the Year and his MOBO nomination for Best African Act Juls continues with the release of his latest single Gwarn featuring Burna Boy.

This has already been getting the severe repeat treatment from me since it was released yesterday. There is just something about Juls and Burna boy that my ears appreciate so much. They work so well together!

Falz The Badguy is back with the video for his hot new  single La Fête. The single was produced by Demsa and the video was directed by everybody’s favourite director Mr Clarence Peters (His work rate is matched by nobody right now).

How many languages did he speak in this track? I counted 3 but could be more.

There’s no denying Maleek Berry’s work rate over the past year from features to production credits to actual singles the man has worked his back side off. He continues with singles off his Last Daze Of Summer EP with the video to single Let Me know.

The video looks as if it was shot in Cape Town South Africa (Could be lying though) and was directed by JM Films.

New Video: Major Lazer & DJ Maphorisa Ft. Nasty C, Ice Prince, Patoranking & Jidenna – Particula

Earlier this year American producer, DJ and Major Lazer front man Diplo embarked on a tour of Africa with pitstops in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa to name a few.

As if to solidify his appreciation for the continent Major Lazer link up with South African producer DJ Maphorisa on their latest single Particula featuring Nasty C, Ice Prince, Patoranking & Jidenna! The video is based on 1970s Johannesburg and was produced by the Word.@wordafrica production group and directed by Adriaan Louw.

I absolutely love the visuals for this! The Afros, the hoops, the lips, the shirts, the vibes.. I can go on and on!

New Video: R2Bees – Over

You guys know the love I have for the collective that is R2Bees but lately they just don’t seem to be giving me the sounds I want to hear. I’m not even going to discuss the single Plantain Chips.. It is what it is. It’s out for your listening pleasure and if you enjoy it then you enjoy it .

To move on from that the group release their follow up single Over. The Hi-Life track was produced by Killbeatz and the video was directed by Patrick Ellis Films.

New Video: Stonebwoy Ft. Kojo Funds – Falling Again

You know… I don’t think Stonebwoy gets the recognition he deserves as an artist. He consistently has new music and never has any drama around him. He seems like a really nice lad.

The Bhim Nation front man links up with the UK’s very own Kojo Funds for his latest single Falling Down. The video was shot here in London and was directed by WOWA.

Take a look..

New Video: Niniola – Sicker

So.. When I first heard Maradona a couple of months back I was convinced it was a South African house song. I did not know the artist behind the track was Nigerian newbie Niniola!

Anyway the self professed Nigerian queen of Afro-House is back again this time with her new single Sicker. The single was produced by Sarz and the video was directed by Clarence Peters. I must say she looks GREAT in this video. Can you say LOOKS?

I actually like what I’ve been hearing from Niniola so far. I’m very keen to see how she progresses on in the scene. Her start kind of reminds me of how Yemi Alade came onto the scene, a little unique and fun. If she really does want to stick with an Afro -House sound however she may want to go down to South Africa and get with Heavy K, Uhuru and all them guys. That would be something!  But until then working with Sarz is just as good, he’s one of the best out of Nigeria.

Check out the fun video below!

Both the stylist and Clarence Peters done very well on this video! I love the colours

If you have not heard Maradona by the way where have you been? Please go and listen. It’s one of my top ten African tracks of the year.
