This post was due in January.. But I mean we are still in the first quarter of the year so it’s not too late!
A new year is upon us which means 12 months of brand spanking new music, videos and albums! Now, you know it would not be a new year without me naming who I think will be the ones to watch for 2015 so without further ado (and me rambling) here are my top 3 artists to watch this year and why.
1. Korede Bello
The baby faced, baby voiced Mavin heartthrob first popped up on the scene last year on popular Mavin hit Dorobucci alongside fellow new Mavin additions Reekado Banks and Di’Ja. The young crooner sung and smiled his way into the hearts of young females across across the world (My little sister to mention). He then followed up with popular singles African Princess, Cold Outside, Jingle Bells and his most recent hit GodWin not forgetting his feature on the Mavin single Adobi. Honestly I have my eyes on all three of the new Mavin additions this year as they all have star power but there is something about Korede Bello that just pulls my heart strings. I am ready to see how Don Jazzy and the Mavin team use this young man because he has very good potential!
2. Pappy Kojo
Big up all the Fanti’s woop woop!
I first caught wind of Pappy Kojo maybe 2/3 years ago when he had hits such as Chin Chin & Mama Mia but in the past year he has becoming one of the most exciting new rappers to come out of Ghana. Featuring on Joey B’s Wave, Mr Eazi’s Bankulize and having his own hit with Realer No the young rapper has managed to gain a whole host of new fans and a new level of respect in the industry being praised by the likes of Sarkodie and Reggie Rockstone. Alongside Joey B I think Pappy Kojo is about to bring a new level of freshness to Ghanaian Hip-life that the youngsters have been craving!
3. Lola Rae
Now, I’m pretty sure that the majority of you are aware of Miss Lola Rae she first stumbled onto our scenes with popular single Watch My Ting Go and followed up with the Iyanya featured single Fi Mi Le. But after that she kind of went on a hiatus and disappeared for a little bit. Now with a new management deal and new single You Know What My Name is I’m pretty sure it’s back to business for the budding Afrobeats Princess. I honestly think this young lady has major star and crossover potential if the team around her really come together and push her out as much as she needs to be. I’m interested in seeing what this young lady pulls out for 2015.
So that’s it! These are my three main artists I will be keeping a crucial eye on this year because I think they have major potential! Honorable mentions also got to Leriq, Reekado Banks, Joey B (Again) and Efya.
All in all this year is shaping up to be a good one!
Until later guys…
